What do you do if you are already the industry leader for drive trains, a major contender with wheels, brakes, pedals and shoes and already own/sell a component brand that provides handlebars, stems, seats and posts? What if you already played a major part in the fishing industry? Well, why not purchase a clothing company?

On the curtails of Mavic’s announcement that they are dumping the Adidas cycling line in favor of their own Mavic branded clothing, Shimano today announced the purchase of clothing and shoe company, Pearl Izumi. According to their existing sales reps the goal at this time is for both brands to continue status quo.
