Bill Woodul Mechanics’ Clinic Details

In its 18th year, the clinic remains the training ground for many current and former professional race mechanics in the U.S. racing community. Instructors are experts in their field from companies such as Shimano, Mavic, USA Cycling, Park Tool Co., Wheelsmith, Independant Fabrications and many others. Based at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Bill Woodul Mechanics Clinic offers unique value and insight that comes with years in the field and the racing experiences of the instructors. It covers everything necessary to get you started as a team or neutral mechanic in road, track, cross or mountain fields as well as sharpening your tubular gluing skills and wheel changing speed, diving into the reasons behind frame materials and design, improvements in wheel theory and design and more.

Cost & Schedules:
The clinic this year is priced at $300 for all day sessions, Thursday the 10th through Sunday the 13th this January. This includes housing at the Olympic Training Center and all the food you can eat from their cafeteria. Space is limited to 50 students to make sure instructors have the ability to interact personally with all the students.

Classes start at the Olympic Training Center on Thursday where, upon check in, you will be provided with your schedule and a work book containing the curriculum and some of the information necessary to progress though the clinic and pass the test at the end. Friday and Saturday are broken down into lectures with the days laid out similar to this:
7am to 7:458am – Breakfast
8am to 9:30am – Session 1
9:45am to 11:15am – Session 2
11:15am to 12:15pm – Lunch
12:15pm to 1:45pm – Session 3
2:00pm to 3:30pm – Session 4
3:45pm to 5:15pm Session 5
5:15pm to 6:15pm – Dinner
6:15pm to 9pm – Evening lectures

Entry
The Bill Woodul Mechanics Clinic is open to folks who already have at least two years working experience as a bicycle mechanic. Entries are selected on a first come first serve basis by resume. When applying be sure to include all of your mechanical background on the resume and send it, along with your check or money order, to USA Cycling at the following address:
